One of the singles from Americas 1972
album Homecoming,"Ventura Highway" is a sort of reminiscence of
the bands a writer/vocalist Dewey Bunnell. As a boy, his family got stuck
on Pacific Coast Highway with a flat tire.
The song found resonance with fans,
remaining one of Americas most
fondly-remembered tunes.

One of the songs biggest fans turned
out to be wrestler-turned-governor
Jesse Ventura, who had adopted his
stage bane - in part - because of the
tune. In fact, Gov. Ventura requested
America play at his inaugural and they
obliged. playing both "Ventura
Highway" for the governor and "A Horse
with No Name" for Venturas wife - a
noted horse aficionado.
